Chapter 2b: Genitive Case

This page will teach you how to use the Genitive case, which is the possessive case in Turkish. It works with the Possessive endings:

Person: a/ı e/i o/u ö/ü
1st Singular -ım -im -um -üm
2nd Singular -ın -in -un -ün
3nd Singular none none none none
1st Plural -ımız -imiz -umuz -ümüz
2nd Plural -ınız -iniz -unuz -ünüz
3nd Plural none none none none

These are all the basic possessive endings in Turkish. Here are some examples.

Bir kopeğim var

I have a dog

Kedin yürüdü

Your cat walked

Evimiz büyük

Our house is big

Pronouns

Person: Pronoun
1st Singular benim
2nd Singular senin
3nd Singular onun
1st Plural bizim
2nd Plural sizin
3nd Plural onların

These can be used to accentuate the possessive case. For example:

Benim adım Can.

My name is Can

Senin ağacını suladin.

You watered your tree.
