Turkish or Türkçe [/tyɾct͡ʃe/] is a natural language which has its origins in the Ottoman Empire, now known as Turkey (ISO 3166: TR). It is also an official language of Turkey, as well as its neighbor, Cyprus (ISO 3166: CY)
It is an Oghuz Turkic language (639-5: trk) and evolved from Ottoman Turkish . Its closest living neighbors are Azerbaijani and Gagauz . It is also related to other Oghuz and Turkic languages, most notably Turkmen , Uzbek , Kazakh , Kyrgyz and Tatar
It is the most widely spoken Oghuz language, and the most widely spoken Turkic language. It is typically written in Latin script, but can be written with Persian script.
