Info

Uzbek is a natural language which originates in Uzbekistan and parts of present day Afghanistan in Central Asia.

It is an Karluk Turkic language (639-5: trk). Its closest living neighbor is Uyghur . It's also geographically close to Karakalpak , and distantly, it is related to Turkish with elements lifted from Persian, notably the Tajik register.

It is undergoing latinization, with plans for full integration coming on the first day of 2023. It is notable for its large vowel shift of "o" to a more rounded frontal vowel. Originally, this language was classified as part of the Chagatay written language.
