Info

Gagauz or Gagauzça [ɡɑɡɑuzt͡ʃɑ] is a Turkic Language native to the predominantly Christian Gagauz people of Moldova and Romania. It is not to be confused with its close neighbor, known by some as Balkan Gagauz

As it is geographically surrounded by Romanian, Gagauz inherits the phonemes [ə] and [ts] from Romanian and maintains its other traits more similarly to other Turkic languages, Turkish and Azerbaijani being major neighbors.

Geographically, it is quite isolated for a Turkic language, its closest neighbors being Balkan Turkish and Crimean Tatar .
